MELAKA TO HAVE P1 4G BROADBAND AS EARLY AS END 2010
Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. ("P1"), Malaysia's largest 4G broadband service provider, announced today that it will extend its coverage to Melaka as early as the end of 2010. The expansion is a step closer for P1 to cover 65 per cent of the Malaysian population by 2012.
Melaka is the last state in the Peninsular to get access to P1 4G coverage.
Chief Executive Officer, Michael Lai, said "P1 4G is living up to the promise of our new ad campaign 'Getting Stronger, Wider, Faster, by the Day' by widening our network. After two years of nationwide deployment we are very excited to be completing our national coverage (Peninsular Malaysia) with the inclusion of Melaka."
Lai said, "It is fitting that Melaka, recently declared a 'developed state' will now have fast wireless broadband combining the best of both worlds, history and heritage with the best technology available today. This is great news for serious broadband users."
Lai explained that current P1 customers download an average of 10GB per month, which is equivalent to 20 movies or 2500 songs in a month. Rich media downloads account for 58 per cent of P1's subscriber activity.
"P1 4G customers are rich media users. They are constantly on Facebook, uploading pictures, uploading videos, watching YouTube and sharing files. With our new Super Broadband packages, they can now enjoy that rich media experience at home or on-the-go. For just RM20 extra per month, a subscriber with a wireless Home package gets a portable USB modem so they take P1 4G with them wherever they go," said Lai. "We are the only company to offer this service - a home modem and a mobile USB modem on the same package."
Packages for new subscribers start from as low as RM69 per month for both home and on-the-go broadband.
First to get a taste of P1 4G in Melaka will be those living near Jalan Graha Maju, Jalan Bendahara, Jalan Ujong Pasir, Multimedia University in Ayer Keroh, Jalan Taming Sari, Taman Batu Berendam Putra, Menara MITC in Ayer Keroh, Melaka Sentral, Masjid Kampung Tun Razak, Masjid Negeri Al Azim. Lai said efforts are being made to expand the coverage as quickly as possible.
