  • 1. What is DX230 Desktop Modem?
    The DX230 Desktop Modem is the latest and enhanced version of P1 4G desktop modem. It comes with a brand new stylish design and built-in WiFi. It supports Internet access via LAN or wider range of WiFi for multiple users sharing and voice service.
  • 2. What are the differences between the DV230 Desktop Modem and the DX230 Desktop Modem?
    The DV230 desktop modem is voice-ready and comes with an external USB WiFi adaptor to enable connection sharing. While the DX230 desktop modem comes with an integrated wider range of WiFi that supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standards. The DX230 desktop modem has 2 LAN ports as well as 2 voice ports. Overall, DX230 provides better WiFi performance at your home or office and supports more connectivity choices via the additional LAN and Voice ports.
  • 3. What are the contents in the DX230 Desktop Modem package?
    The modem package comes with (1) DX230 Desktop Modem, (1) power adapter, (1) LAN cable, and a user guide manual.
  • 4. What is the voice port for?
    If you have subscribed to any P1 voice service, connect one end of the phone cable (RJ11) to the phone port on the modem and the other end to the phone. Once the phone cable (RJ11) is connected to your modem and phone, the BLUE phone LED will light up. You can now access your P1 voice service.   • 5. What is the WiFi specification on DX230 Desktop Modem?
    The DX230 is compatible with IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standards.
  • 6. Can my device support CCTV and Alarm?
    Yes, DX230 supports basic CCTV (IP Camera). As for Alarm, please confirm with Alarm's vendor/supplier if their Alarm system is compatible with P1 network.
  • 7. How far can the WiFi range cover by the DX230 Desktop Modem?
    The DX230 desktop modem's WiFi connection can support up to 20 meters in open areas depending on environmental factors (e.g. walls, location of the WiFi-enabled computers, etc).
  • 8. How many users can share the Internet connection on DX230 Desktop Modem?
    Depending on the P1 4G package you subscribed to; the Internet connection can be shared between 2 to 8 wireless devices via WiFi connection. For LAN (direct connect to PC/laptop using LAN cable) connection, only 2 devices at a time.
  • 9. What networking features does DX230 Desktop Modem support?
    The DX230 desktop modem supports Port Forwarding, Dynamic Domain Name Service (DDNS), DHCP IP Configuration, and WiFi configuration.
  • 10. How can I secure my WiFi connection on the DX230 desktop modem?
    You can follow the steps below or visit P1 Online Security:
    1. Open a browser and log into http://10.1.1.254 (username: admin; password: admin123).
    2. Go to Networking > WiFi. Under Use Default field, select User Defined. Password can be changed under Security Setting.
    3. It is advisable to set the security mode to WPA2-PSK.
    4. Click Apply. The modem will reboot automatically in 10 seconds for the new security configuration to take effect.

  • 11. Does the DX230 support other WiFi security modes?
    Yes. The DX230 can support WPA, WPA2, WPA-PSK and more.
  • 12. How do I optimize my WiFi signal quality?

  • 13. How do I reset the DX230 Desktop Modem to factory default settings?
    The side of the modem has a reset button. You'll need a small pin to press the reset button for 10 seconds. The DX230 will then auto restart.
  • 14. All the 3 LEDs on my DX230 Desktop Modem are blinking continuously. What’s wrong?
    It means P1 is currently upgrading the firmware on your DX230 desktop modem. This upgrade usually takes about 5 minutes. Once the upgrade is completed, the modem will restart itself. You can still surf the Internet during the firmware upgrade process. The modem will restart itself again after completing the update process.
  • 15. What should I do when I still encounter problem or would like to seek for more information regarding the DX230 Desktop Modem?
